Separate ways

“Separate ways”

I was stranded out in Houston
Tryin to make my way
Met an angel with a Southern tan
With so much good to say
She taught me about Jesus
To be thankful when I pray
Even though I did get better
Come the morning light heard the call of the Interstate
Said don’t wait up girl it’s gonna be late

A fool and his money soon go separate ways.
Ya either takin or given
Its a river that flows both ways
Wish I saw more living
Instead of life’s real ways
How quickly you vanish into the maze
A fool and his money soon go separate ways

I am the producer, the actor and the stage
Who take good parts for me
And erodes them away
You will always be my ending
Heal my broken days
At times I feel invisable
Try to hide hard what it is I cannot say
I see the open sky
She looks the other way

A fool and his money soon go separate ways.
Ya either takin or given
Its a river that flows both ways
On the kindness of strangers
I make my take home pay
The prime in life is just one drink away
A fool and his money soon go separate ways

Stranded out in Mobile
At I-10 and 65
Trying to make a decision
Just to survive
Burned some bridges in Florida
Maybe parts of Georgia too
Seems I hit a deadend
Across roads only meant for two.
I look at 65 and try to think that path thru

A fool and his money soon go separate ways.
Ya either takin or given
Its a river that flows both ways
There’s a sweet little girl in Texas a place I could call home
Hope someday she finds somebody strong
A fool and his money soon go separate ways

Do not be afraid

Don’t be scared of the things that hold you back Don’t be scared of things that you may lack And don’t be scared of what it is you cannot change Got yer love and family and these things will never change So don’t be scared of things that are unknown And don’t be scared of places you have never gone Baby don’t be scared of living…you are not alone.
